O nas

Since 1976 it has been a museum, one of few such battleships, alongside the Aurora, Waza and Victory. As well as the armaments on deck, it is also possible to appreciate the history and traditions of the Polish navy.
The Błyskawica (lightening) is one of the most beautiful ships of its kind. This Polish battleship was built in 1935-6 in Great Britain (displacemet: 2145/3380 tonnes, speed: 39 knots, armament: 8 102mm).

In 1937 it set sail for the first time to Gdynia and until the outbreak of the war it was used by the Polish navy. On 30 August 1939, the ship headed for Great Britain. Along with its sister-ship Grom, it was the pride of the fleet.

It's crew fought bravely in the North Sea, Mediterranean, Atlantic, English Channel and the Bay of Biscay. During the war, the ship destroyed 2 battleships and 2 escorts, damaged 3 submarines and shot 3 enemy planes.

Since 1976 it has been a museum, one of few such battleships, alongside the Aurora, Waza and Victory. As well as the armaments on deck, it is also possible to appreciate the history and traditions of the Polish navy.

The Battleship Błyskawica is currently undergoing repair and renovation work.

The ship is inaccessible to visitors until the end of May.
