The Sopot Horseracing Track is a park located in the very heart of the resort. The green area of almost 40 hectares with a panoramic view of the Bay of Gdansk is an ideal venue for sporting and recreational events with the participation of world business, political and cultural leaders.
The 200 year old tradition of horseracing in Europe is characterises the racrtrack as a place for horse enthusiasts, the royal family, high-ranking polititians as well as local business impressarios.
In 1998 Sopot celebrated the 100 year anniversary of the hippodrome, a long standing tourist attraction, reknown throughout Europe.
After the war, Sopot's became the most important obstacle horseracing track in Poland and the Great Baltic race held here was a passport to the most important races of the world: the Grand Pardubicki and the English Grand National, watched by hundreds of millions of TV spectators.
The town of Sopot bought a controlling interest in the shares of the hippodrome in 1997, allowing it to promote the resort through horceracing and making it available to dynamic businesses for advertising purposes.
